I recently watched a video ragarding hair particles, which gave me the idea of using them to make grass and recreate the old Default Windows Wallpaper. This is the result.

I took a plane and UV sphere of which I deleted the lower half and then connected the tow shapes. The next step was to move vertices at random and then apply subdivision surface modifier. I find this a reliable way to get iregular, rounded shapes like rocks or as it is in this case hills. By the way, you can see just how many vertices I ended up having. The whole model is practically black. I don't what to imagine what it would be like if I had put the modifier at maximum.

As for the grass, I am somewhat pleased of what it ended up like, although it ended up more like artificial grass rather than natural. The colours are for the most part as intended.

I think I made I made the clump value too high. The individual hair strands are too thick at the base and pointy. I ended up reimagining them as pine trees, which is why I don't complain.

My last problem is the rendering, which is troubling. Blender straight up crashes when I atempt to render with more than 50 children particles.
